I’ve been in this trade since 1984, the year I founded Mainspring. Started out working alone out of a used Chevy van, fixing springs and cables for neighbors in Coppell and the surrounding towns. The company name comes from the mainspring, the coil that carries the full weight of a door. If it fails, nothing else works. That idea stuck with me. I still answer the phone some nights when the line rings late, and I still walk jobs when a customer wants to talk through options in person. My rule hasn’t changed: state the flat price before any work starts, put the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing, and show up when we say we’ll be there. I’ve seen too many doors that fought back over the years to trust shortcuts.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with us twelve years, which in this trade means he’s seen just about every failure mode a garage door can throw at you. He holds our senior certification in torsion spring systems and handles the jobs other companies call us to finish. Marcus grew up in Lewisville, so he knows how the north Texas clay soil shifts and what that does to door alignment over time. He keeps a notebook of every oddball track configuration he’s encountered, which comes in handy more often than you’d think. Off the clock, he restores vintage motorcycles and applies the same patience to a 1972 Honda that he does to a stubborn Clopay torsion assembly.

Elena joined us eight years ago after running her own small handyman business in Grapevine. She specializes in full door replacements and custom installs, particularly the heavier Amarr and Wayne Dalton models that need precise balancing. Her background in finish carpentry shows in the way she handles trim work around a new frame. He coaches youth basketball in his free time and applies the same direct communication to both jobs: here’s the situation, here’s what we’re doing about it.
Jesse M., Apprentice Technician
Jesse is in his second year with us, working through our journeyman training program under the K.E.Y.S. values code: Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it. He’s already certified in cable and roller replacement, and he’s building hours toward his torsion spring qualification, which we don’t rush. Jesse grew up in Flower Mound and worked construction summers through high school, so he’s comfortable on ladders and in tight spaces. He asks more questions than he answers right now, which is exactly what we want. His current project truck is a 2006 F-150 he’s rebuilding in his grandfather’s garage.
